Vandalur realty update – September 2013
Overview:
The census town of Vandalur is situated in the district of Kancheepuram. This suburb is located in the southwestern part of Chennai. The
renowned Arignar Anna Zoological Park, which is home to some rare
species of both wild flora and fauna is also located within the
locality. The locality is primarily a residential area.
Connectivity:
The suburb is approximately six kilometers to the south of Tambaram. Additionally, the suburbs of Perungalathur, Urapakkam, Padappai and Mudichur lie adjacent to it.
The important junction of the Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road which connects the Grand Southern Trunk Road with Old Mamallapuram Road, is formed at Vandalur.
The prominent transport corridor – Outer Ring Road (Minjur – Vandalur) is being developed by the CMDA along the periphery of Chennai Metropolitan Area.
The Vandalur Flyover connects the west and the east side of the Vandalur railway station.
The Chennai International Airport is at a distance of around sixteen kilometers from Vandalur via the Chennai-Theni Highway.
It is approximately 37 kilometers away from Chennai Central Railway Station and 35 kilometers from Egmore Railway Station via Chennai Bypass road. (concise)

Direct buses ply to and from Poonamallee, Tambaram, T Nagar, Broadway, Thiruvanmiyur and Mandaveli at frequent and regular intervals. The establishment of a 65-acre bus terminus is being planned. This terminus would handle south-bound long-distance buses as well as share the pressure of the CMBT facility at Koyambedu.

Educational Institutions in Vandalur include Crescent School, TS Baliah Matriculation School, Shri Natesan Vidyasala Matriculation Hr Sec School, B. S. Abdur Rahman University, Sri Ramanujar Engineering College, Tagore Engineering College, Delhi Public School, etc.
